In 1990 I exhibited some paintings at the university of Mosul. They were most drawings where I had been using pencil, ink pen and colored kuglepene. In 1991 in connection with the Kurdish rebellion against Saddam Husein regime, the Krdish part of Iraq was liberated. The joy did not last long and the whole area was re-occupied by the regime again. Many houses in the city of Duhok were razed by the Iraqi army. One of the houses was ours and all my drawings from the university disappeared except a small subscription. It has been a disaster for me to lose almost all my drawings. After we returned from the mountains to our city, I began working as a calligrapher and graphic designer for about three years. Due to my political beliefs, I fled afterwards to Denmark in 1996. | ||
